What a Saturday this Job Corps kid had. I woke up early to get ready for the community service I signed up for. Today was a park cleanup event going around Reno.
Each group got assigned to pick up trash at a certain park and then at noon we all met up at another park for a lunch event. It was really nice. It was a park in a really rich fancy area called Summerset I think. Or Summer something. Which must be Reno's version of Summerlin. Which leads me to the conclusion that the rich must all live in areas with "Summer" in the name.
Why are Reno parks so scenic and beautiful and full of nature?! Or better question why aren't Vegas parks like this?!
Again no fuzzy feeling. Why I keep searching for one I don't know but like always I have fun doing it. Little old ladies who saw us working would honk their horns and start cheering us on which was funny to see and nice to be appreciated. Plus the lunch was pretty cool when you think how each and every person there drinking a beer or munching on a burger was literally picking up trash at some random park across Reno an hour ago.
To bad Vegas doesn't do these type of events.
After the cleanup we came back and I was pretty beat. It was drizzling slightly but nothing wild. I didn't nap because I promised the Sister Missionaries I'd meet them. Right when it came time to walk out and meet them around 3pm it started pouring!
I'm walking across campus in all these deep puddles, pouring rain, and it's cold. I wasn't made for this.
You know the Hollywood movies were the girl is like drenched? I thought that was Hollywood B.S. but turns out my grew up in Vegas self just never experienced actual heavy rain. By the time I was done talking with the sisters (they're amazing btw) I looked like I just came out of a shower. I was drenched😠and so so very cold.
Ended the day with another Pizza and Movie night. This time in Flor's room with her roommate and another girl. We watched Hills Have Eyes. Good times.
Day 26.
